USMCA Ag Coalition Gathers Signatures for Grassroots Letter

Want to advocate for the seed industry? Want your voice to directly reach the President? Join our industry partners in amplifying the agriculture community’s priorities in a grassroots letter!

The USMCA Ag Coalition is gathering signatures to highlight the widespread grassroots support for renewing the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The Coalition hopes to secure 10,000 signatures by the time it sends the letter on April 22.

You can learn more in the message from the Coalition below. When you sign the letter, list the company you work for (i.e., don’t list ASTA as your organization); this letter seeks to highlight that there are so many supporters of the trade deal outside Washington, D.C.

USMCA enables the tariff-free movement of seed across North America, which facilitates commercial seed sales as well as plant breeding research. Additionally, USMCA forces Canada and Mexico to adhere to biotechnology and intellectual property requirements rarely found in similar types of trade deals. For these reasons, and so many more, ASTA strongly supports renewing the agreement.

Advocate,

The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) has been a game-changer for U.S. agriculture, creating jobs, expanding exports, and providing stability to our farms and communities. But these gains aren’t guaranteed: Your advocacy is needed to secure the long-term benefits of this agreement.

A formal review of USMCA begins in July, where the three countries will decide whether to renew the agreement for 16 years, move to annual reviews, or revert to bilateral arrangements. We need a collective voice to urge the Trump administration to preserve USMCA and consider targeted improvement so farmers, ranchers, and rural communities can plan for the future with confidence.

Add your name to a letter to President Trump urging renewal of this critical agreement. Make your voice heard!
