Meet ASTA’s 2026 Interns
- On June 18, 2026
This summer, ASTA is excited to have two young professionals on staff supporting our team. Presley Cable serves as ASTA’s government affairs intern, and Rachel Harris is ASTA’s communications and marketing intern. Read below to learn more about Presley and Rachel and what they hope to gain from their internships.
Presley Cable, ASTA Government Affairs Intern
My name is Presley Cable, and I just completed my first year at Boston University School of Law. Prior to law school, I earned my B.A. in Spanish from the University of Washington in Seattle.
My interest in agriculture law and policy took root close to home. My father, a longtime member of Oregon’s grass seed industry, often spoke about the challenges facing seed producers—particularly around international shipping and intellectual property protection. Those conversations sparked my conviction that the United States thrives only when its agriculture industry thrives. I am especially excited about emerging tools like CRISPR technology and AI, which I believe hold immense potential to benefit the seed industry if implemented thoughtfully. Through litigation and policy, I want to ensure that the US agriculture community has all the necessary support from the government to remain competitive and profitable in both domestic and foreign markets.
Outside the office, I am a lifelong sports enthusiast. In high school, I played for the Chilean National Baseball Team and participated twice in the Boston Red Sox Lindos Sueños program. These days, you’ll find me on the golf course or playing pickup basketball whenever I get the chance.
Rachel Harris, ASTA Communications and Marketing Intern
My name is Rachel Harris. I am a rising senior at Virginia Tech studying Marketing Management. At Tech, I am involved in several student organizations, including the American Marketing Association where I am on the Public Relations committee. I have a passion for visual and written communication and firmly believe that good storytelling is the key to a great campaign.
Outside of work and school, I love spending time outdoors, hiking and camping. I also enjoy reading and going to concerts. I have always been passionate about the outdoors and nature, so I am excited about the opportunity to work with ASTA because it is truly a combination of everything that I am passionate about.
As a communications and marketing intern for ASTA this summer, I am eager to deepen my understanding of the agriculture industry while applying the strategic and creative skills I have developed through my coursework. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects across multiple communication channels and to learn from such a talented team. I look forward to a productive and rewarding summer with ASTA.
Just a few weeks into their time with us, Presley and Rachel have already hit the ground running, attending industry and coalition meetings and preparing assets to support staff work across the board.
Presley and Rachel will be with ASTA through the end of the summer. If you want to offer your insight or support via a virtual meeting or coffee, contact them directly.
