Stakeholders Work to Protect Agriculture Research Funding

As negotiations continue on the final price tag of the budget reconciliation package, ASTA joined with more than 140 agriculture, research and industry stakeholders in sending a letter to House and Senate leadership urging the protection of the $7.75 billion investment allocated for agriculture research. The letter highlights the important role of research in supporting climate resilience and food security and emphasizes negative impacts that a lack of investment could mean for future innovations. Specifically, the letter cites a recent study that reports U.S. public agriculture research funding yields, on average, $17 in benefits for every $1 invested.
