After weeks of negotiations among lawmakers, specific allocations within the Build Back Better package have been made public, with significant dollars being allocated to research and conservation. Currently, the package includes nearly $28 billion in conservation spending, including $25-per-acre manual payments to farmers for cover crops and increases to most of the major farm bill conservation programs. Additionally, the bill allocates $2 billion dollars for agricultural climate research and agricultural research facilities. The future of the bill is still uncertain as we await a vote by the House and Senate.
