Important Notice Re: Sorghum Seed Shipments to South Korea

  • ASTA

The USDA has been in contact with South Korea regarding recent sorghum seed rejections. South Korea has been testing for Cochliobolus spicifer; shipments that test positive are being rejected and not released. ASTA recommends that all sorghum seed shipments be tested for C. spicifer before shipping. Companies planning to export seed of any species to Korea are encouraged to contact ASTA’s Ric Dunkle prior to shipment. Ric will work with the appropriate authorities in APHIS to identify those pathogens for which the seed should be tested before it is shipped.
