Changes to Canadian Labeling Requirements of Treated Seed Effective April 2020

  • On October 23, 2019

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) will soon require health-and-safety related information on treated-seed labels to appear in both English and French.

The additional language is needed primarily for the warning that the seed is not for food or feed, and is required at the time of sale, not import. Companies must fully comply with the new bilingual labeling requirements by April 23, 2020. Detailed information is available on the CFIA website. For questions, contact Jane DeMarchi.
