ASTA Provides Comments in Support of Bioeconomy

  • On October 23, 2019

On October 18, ASTA submitted comments to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) in response to its Request for Information (RFI) on the Bioeconomy. Through the RFI, OSTP seeks to identify “notable gaps, vulnerabilities, and areas to promote and protect in the U.S. Bioeconomy that may benefit from Federal government attention.”

ASTA commends OSTP for recognizing the important role that government plays in promoting scientific innovation. Plant breeding innovation is crucial for both the U.S. seed sector and global food security, particularly at a time when the global population continues to grow rapidly. The association’s comments focused on three key areas: Domestic Regulatory Policy; International Policy and Trade; and Research Investment. Read ASTA’s comment here.
