ASTA Set to Debut the New Policy & Leadership Development Conference

  • On February 12, 2018

Mark your calendars! This June 9 – 13, ASTA will introduce its new Policy & Leadership Development Conference (PLDC) in Washington D.C. The association’s former Annual Convention—an event held every June since 1883—has been replaced by this newly reimagined event to better serve the needs of today’s seed business.

With a focus on policy issues, member engagement, advocacy and leadership development, the event is designed to advance crucial seed industry policy initiatives, and to cultivate new leadership for seed businesses and the association itself.

“ASTA as an organization needs to be certain that we are staying ahead of the curve on the emerging issues in our industry, and that the wide variety of seed businesses that comprise our membership are all represented as we work to develop and influence policy decisions,” ASTA Chair Tracy Tally announced at ASTA’s 57th Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference. “Now is the time to invest our energy into cultivating more than our vegetables, flowers, field crops, grasses – we need to be cultivating the next generation of leaders to carry us successfully into the future.”

The traditional Welcome Reception and Gala Banquet will be incorporated into our new PLDC, which will culminate with our largest-ever “Storm the Hill” – ASTA’s annual grassroots advocacy day on Capitol Hill, held since 2012. Save the date! Registration for the Conference will open in early March.
