ASTA Engages with the Global Plant Pathology Community at APS 2026

Dr. Martha Malapi, ASTA’s Senior Director of Seed Health & Trade, attended the 2026 American Phytopathological Society (APS) Annual Meeting in Providence, Rhode Island. The meeting brought together more than 1,100 participants from over 35 countries, 150 universities, and 180 companies for 40 scientific sessions. ASTcontinues to engage actively with APS and support research that advances science-based solutions to seed health and trade challenges. During the meeting, Dr. Malapi participated in several sessions, including serving as a panelist in a career session focused on supporting the next generation of plant pathologists. Dr. Malapi was also selected to serve a three-year term as an APS Councilor to the International Society for Plant Pathology (ISPP). In this role, she will help advance the global development of plant pathology and seed health while strengthening connections among the scientific, regulatory, and seed industry communities.
