Assistance for Communities Affected by Recent Midwest Derecho

ASTA is saddened to see and hear about the devastating damage caused by the recent derecho across the Midwest. We wish a speedy recovery to all of our members and friends whose houses, businesses and communities were impacted by the storm.

On August 12, USDA announced the availability of assistance to help eligible farmers and ranchers reestablish impacted operations. “Our agricultural producers provide Americans and consumers around the world with such abundance, it’s critical that we stand with them when confronting disasters like the derecho that has devastated so many in America’s heartland,” said Bill Northey, USDA Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation. The assistance includes provisions to help producers weather financial impacts of disasters and help operations recover after disasters. For more information, visit USDA’s disaster resources website.
