APHIS PPQ Releases FY25 Annual Review

  • On August 20, 2026

The Department of Agriculture’s Plant Protection Quarantine (PPQ) program released its FY25 annual review. During the fiscal year, the program managed 15 outbreaks of exotic fruit flies, successfully eradicating the pest in 10 of them. PPQ also partnered with various state departments of agriculture to eliminate exotic fruit fly outbreaks and deregulated pale cyst nematode-infested fields in Idaho.

The program helped open export markets for kiwi berries and sorghum grain, negotiated favorable conditions to retain access for wheat exports to Indonesia and seed exports to the European Union. Additionally, PPQ assisted exporters with shipments detained at foreign ports of entry for phytosanitary reasons, helping secure the release of more than $42 million in products.

The PPQ program serves as the Nation’s frontline defense against plant health risks. Its rapid response and invasive species management efforts safeguard U.S. production, trade, and the broader economy. You can review the report here
