USDA Announces Details of Support Package for Farmers

  • On July 31, 2019

On July 25, USDA announced details of the $16 billion aid package aimed at supporting American farmers impacted by the current trade disruptions. The announcement outlines the assistance from the Market Facilitation Program (MFP), Food Purchase and Distribution Program (FPDP), and Agricultural Trade Promotion Program (ATP).

Producers who planted a Farm Service Agency (FSA)-certified cover crop and filed for prevented planting may receive a $15 per acre payment, while acres not planted in 2019 are not eligible to receive an MFP payment. Non-specialty crops and cover crops must be planted by August 1, 2019 to be eligible to receive these MFP payments.

If you have questions about the aid package, please contact your local FSA office or Virginia Houston at ASTA.
