On June 15, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue visited ASTA member Pairwise to learn more about how the food tech company is working to solve health challenges through food. Secretary Perdue and company leaders discussed how small business innovation and modern technology, like gene editing, are helping find new ways to help make healthier food choices available across the U.S.

During the event at the Pairwise facility in Durham, NC, Secretary Perdue highlighted the importance of innovation in helping us adapt – whether to a changing climate, a global pandemic, or other challenge facing the future of human health and global food security. “During this pandemic we’ve understood more about the food supply than ever, and we know that it comes from innovative producers who have to rely on innovative companies like Pairwise to give those the best genetic stock in order to grow the plants and the food that we consumer for our health,” said Perdue.
