Senate Appropriations, Finance Committees Examine Ag Industry

  • On July 29, 2026

As a sign of the increased congressional attention on the farm economy, the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations and the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance held hearings on agriculture-related topics. Senate Appropriations considered the President’s supplemental budget request, which includes $12 billion in aid to farmers. During this hearing, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and several senators testified, emphasizing the challenging farm economy producers currently face. Senate Finance, meanwhile, discussed the Administration’s trade policy with U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer, as well as tariffs and negotiations with other countries on new trade deals.
