Food & Ag Workers Next in Line for COVID Vaccine

  • On December 22, 2020

On Sunday, December 20, a federal advisory panel announced its recommendation that frontline essential workers, including those in the food and agriculture industry, should be in the second group to receive COVID-19 vaccines.

Earlier this month, ASTA and 25 leading food and ag organizations sent letters to the National Governors Association, White House, and the Biden transition team requesting this priority vaccine access.

The advisory panel recommendation, which now goes to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Robert Redfield for approval, would provide a framework for states to determine who should receive the vaccine after healthcare workers and residents and staff of long-term care facilities are vaccinated.
