FDA Announces FSMA Enforcement Discretion for Seed Conditioning Facilities

  • On January 9, 2018

On January 4, FDA issued Guidance on FSMA enforcement discretion that contains good news for seed conditioning facilities.  FDA will exercise enforcement discretion for seed conditioning facilities that send discarded seed materials for consumption by either animals or humans.  This means that seed conditioning facilities do not need to comply with the preventive controls or current Good Manufacturing Practice requirements under either the Preventive Controls for Animal Food or Preventive Controls for Human Food rules.

This is a huge win after many years of hard work by ASTA and its members. Please contact Jane DeMarchi with any questions.
