The EU has agreed to amend its regulation (EU 2020/1191) which currently precludes tomato and pepper seeds from being shipped into the region. The change would allow tomato and pepper seeds in storage to be shipped to any country based on each country’s phytosanitary import requirements for ToBRFV. However, USDA APHIS cannot issue phytosanitary certificates and revised additional declarations until the revisions are officially published. The commission indicated this process would take 3-4 weeks, but the EU would try to move quickly. If any individual EU member state attempts to allow for a grace period, the commission has indicated it will not support it.
