USDA Relocates Mission Area Responsible for Agricultural Research and Economic Analysis
- On April 30, 2026
The USDA has initiated a reorganization and leadership restructuring as part of its goal to relocate staff outside of the Washington, D.C. area (known as the National Capital Region). The agencies affected (the Economic Research Service, the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, the National Agricultural Statistics Service, and the Agriculture Research Service) are part of the Research, Education, and Extension Area at the Department of Agriculture. This announcement follows the relocation of other agencies, such as the Forest Service and the Food Safety and Inspection Service, within USDA.
The ASTA team continues to gather information on how this change will affect the seed industry. If you have questions, please contact Janae Brady, Vice President of Government Affairs or Brandon Pachman, Director of Government Affairs. A full press statement can be found here.
