Colorado Legislature Passes Sunset Review of State Seed Regulatory Program

The Colorado legislature, in a stop/start session due to COVID, quickly passed the sunset review of the state seed regulatory program before time ran out. The Sunset process is a significant legislative oversight tool to streamline and improve government agencies. The Colorado review process began last fall, with final sign-off granted by the legislature. The legislation as passed maintained the state’s seed arbitration procedure – which originally had been removed. Without passage, the program would have ceased until reauthorization. The Governor is expected to sign the bill into law in the near future. The next review will be in 11 years.
