The spring meeting of ASTA’s Environmental & Conservation Seed Committee took place in Washington, D.C. on March 11 and 12. Members of this ASTA committee are involved in supplying grasses and forbs for use in USDA conservation programs and reclamation projects throughout the U.S. The group met internally to discuss committee business on Monday morning before attending afternoon meetings with USDA’s Natural Resource Conservation Service, and the Bureau of Land Management at the Department of the Interior.

Tuesday, the group took to Capitol Hill to raise awareness about the important role seed plays in conservation and reclamation programs. They discussed implementation of the 2018 Farm Bill in addition to the need for dedicated funding for seed procurement for reclamation projects at Interior. Thanks to everyone who attended!
