ASTA Weighs in with EPA on Proposed Updates to Treated Seed Labeling Requirements

  • On February 13, 2023

On February 14, ASTA submitted comments in response to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Request for Information (RFI) on the Endangered Species Act Workplan Update. The RFI is part of EPA’s ongoing work to harmonize its obligations under the ESA and FIFRA. ASTA’s comments focused on EPA’s proposed updates and additional requirements around seed treatment product labels.

To ensure growers have continued access to critical seed treatments, which benefit farmers, consumers and the environment, ASTA urges EPA to avoid taking any regulatory action that would unnecessarily complicate the regulatory process for developers and/or impose burdens on growers without a scientific justification.
