ASTA Supports Nomination of Dr. Scott Hutchins as USDA Under Secretary of REE

ASTA recently signed on to a letter of support for the nomination of Dr. Scott Hutchins as USDA Under Secretary of Research, Education, and Economics (REE). Dr. Hutchins is a renowned scientist with diverse experience in industry, academia, and the professional scientific community. If approved, Hutchins’ responsibilities as the department’s chief scientist will include overseeing Agriculture’s economic bureaus, including the Natural Agricultural Statistics Service and the Economic Research Service, and planning the allocation of the USDA’s budget.

Hutchins is a global leader of integrated field sciences for Corteva Agriscience and an adjunct professor at the University of Nebraska, and previously served as president of the Entomological Society of America.
