ASTA Participates in APEC Meeting in Brisbane

On August 2-3, ASTA Senior VP of Domestic & International Policy Bernice Slutsky participated in an Asia Pacific Economic Community (APEC) gene editing in agriculture workshop in Brisbane, Australia. Attendees included government officials from the APEC economies, as well as industry and academic representatives.

The workshop provided an overview of current research and economic considerations around policy development, while facilitating communication among APEC economies with respect to policy and stakeholder engagement around gene editing and evolving plant breeding methods.

Dr. Slutsky gave a presentation on the perspective of the international seed sector and participated in a panel discussion on communications.
