ASTA Members Visit Embassy Row

  • On October 1, 2026

On September 15, ASTA members fanned out across Washington, D.C. as part of the association’s international trade advocacy efforts, hosting meetings with the Embassies of Mexico, Peru, Brazil, and Spain, the Delegation of the European Union (EU), and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Throughout the visits, ASTA advocated for streamlined policies for plant breeding innovations (PBI) like genome editing, promoted the importance of intellectual property to the seed sector, and discussed phytosanitary trade barriers to seed for the grass, flower, and row crop industries. The visits underscore ASTA’s commitment to building diplomatic relationships that support open, science-based seed trade worldwide.
