ASTA Delivers Testimony to USTR During Tariff Hearing

  • On May 12, 2026

ASTA President & CEO Andy LaVigne testified before the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, making the case against tariffs on planting seeds, delivering a clear message: tariffs don’t punish foreign competitors. They punish American farmers and the agricultural innovators who serve them.

LaVigne was the first witness during the four-day hearing, which featured approximately 150 witnesses representing private, public, and government entities impacted by tariffs. LaVigne’s testimony comes after the association submitted written comments earlier this spring.

ASTA continues to call on the Administration to eliminate burdensome tariffs that threaten domestic and global food security and undermine the innovative tools American farmers need to thrive.

If your company is impacted by tariffs, please contact ASTA’s Sam Crowell to share your story and get involved in this important effort.
