USDA Announces Change to Haying and Grazing Date for Cover Crops on Prevented Planting Acres

With the recent announcement by USDA of the move to September 1 for haying and grazing of a cover crop in prevent plant situations, there have been a lot of questions on what can be used as a cover crop.

Richard Flourney, deputy administrator of product management for USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA), recently provided information on the use of corn for sileage as a cover crop in prevent plant situations. Additional information is available on the USDA-RMA website.
