State Seed Preemption Law Upheld in Oregon

  • On October 3, 2017

On Thursday, September 21 the Oregon Court of Appeals confirmed the lower court opinion on the Josephine County GMO ban initiative – which upheld the state “seed preemption” law preventing the ban of GMO agriculture in the county.

The Oregon Court of Appeals confirmed that the lower court ruled properly and responded “without opinion,” which confirms that it agrees with the lower court and has no further comment.  This case law ruling provides additional confirmation to Oregon’s seed preemption law.
