State Legislatures Propose Seed Treatment Bills

Most state legislatures are currently in session and operating at full speed. As expected, when it comes to legislation directly related to the seed industry, seed treatments – specifically, neonics – tops the list. Most of the proposals would ban or limit the use of the pesticide.

Additionally, Indiana, West Virginia and Tennessee have introduced bills calling for “an unalienable right to food,” including the “right to save and exchange seeds.” That language is very similar to a referendum that passed in the state of Maine last fall.
