As of September 24, $200 billion worth of goods coming from China to the U.S. are now subject to a 10-percent tariff. More than 20 HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) codes related to planting seeds are included on this list. If you import any of these seeds from China, your shipments will be subject to this tariff. Click here to see which HTS codes are impacted.

ASTA has submitted comments to the Office of the United States Trade Representative regarding the impact these tariffs will have on regional seed companies in the U.S. If the precedent for previous U.S. government policies continues, there will be an opportunity for ASTA and member companies to apply for exclusions from these tariffs.

ASTA is monitoring this situation closely and will provide more information on the exclusion application process as soon as additional information is made available. To see the official announcement from USTR, click here.
