Good News! Tariff Exclusion Granted for Certain Seed Products from China

  • On April 1, 2020

As you know, U.S. seed companies importing vegetable and flower seed from China have been impacted by tariffs since September 2018. ASTA filed petitions on behalf of its members to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to request exclusions for seed products, as these products are critical to U.S. farmers and gardeners. ASTA received news this week that seven of these product exclusions have been approved: eggplant, endive, gourd, honeydew, hot pepper, pumpkin, and tomatillo seeds. Click here for the formal notice. These products are eligible for a duty refund on all entries between September 24, 2018 and August 7, 2020. There are 13 additional product exclusion requests that remain under consideration and review. For more information, please contact Abigail Struxness.
