FACA Meets with White House Staff

On October 26, ASTA’s President & CEO Andy LaVigne and other members of the Food and Agriculture Climate Alliance (FACA) Steering Committee met with members of the White House staff to discuss the coalition’s policy priorities and ongoing work with the Biden administration’s top policymakers on climate issues.

FACA members told the White House officials that they appreciate the strong partnership the coalition has had with both USDA and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as those agencies have ramped up their work on climate policies in the ag and forestry sector and urged the White House to follow the coalition’s founding principles, that federal climate policies: are voluntary and market- and incentive-based; advance science-based outcomes; promote resilience and help rural communities better adapt to climate change; ensure equitable opportunities for all farmers, ranchers, and forest owners, including historically underserved and small producers; and are strongly bipartisan.

LaVigne spoke on the need for robust investment in research and access to scientifically rigorous tools and information to build climate resilience.
