Looking for a way to elevate your career in the seed industry? The ASTA Leadership Summit this June in Indianapolis can help! Created specifically to develop the seed industry leaders of tomorrow, this new event offers a full slate of leadership development workshops and future-focused interactive sessions to help build both your knowledge and network at the same time.

But don’t just take our word for it! Hear from former ASTA Campus Connections student and conference participant, now Corteva Agriscience employee, Luke Knight, about why this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss!

“As a student, I had the opportunity to participate in an ASTA event in the summer of 2016 in Portland, Oregon and that opportunity made me realize that the seed industry impacts many different stakeholders and they all have different issues, political initiatives and societal trends that impact their business,” says Luke Knight, Territory Manager for Corteva Agriscience. “Prior to this experience, I had a narrow view of the seed industry, but I realized after leaving the event that this industry is vast and vital to our country, communities and companies. It made me realize that the opportunities in the seed industry were expansive and there is an opportunity. for everyone to be a part of it”

Luke has continued to participate in ASTA events through his role at Corteva Agriscience for a number of reasons. First, Luke has gained knowledge of the diversity and complexity of the seed industry. “The seed industry has many different stakeholders involved in what it takes to get a seed to growers. The decision makers for the seed industry are at these meetings and it is valuable for me professionally to be engaged in these opportunities,” he says.

Second, there are always new issues impacting the seed industry and these issues move quickly. “Being engaged and involved in the decision-making process and understanding the big picture of the impacts makes me more beneficial on my team to be able to speak toward these issues and how we respond to it as an industry,” he adds.

Finally, Luke states that ASTA events provide an opportunity to network and work more closely with people in his organization on projects which wouldn’t have happened had he not met them at ASTA events and worked with them on ASTA efforts, which has led to critical professional growth for him and benefitted his company along the way.

The conference agenda includes a wide range of the most crucial issues affecting our industry and how to prepare for the changes ahead, including a special workshop on Critical Thinking and Challenging Assumptions, through a partnership with Purdue University. Each day also ends with a networking reception, allowing ample opportunity to build your network with seed industry colleagues at all career levels. Register today at www.betterseed.org!
