The UN Food Systems Summit is taking place in Fall 2021, for the first time in over 20 years, to discuss the role of food and agriculture in achieving sustainability goals. ASTA participated in several national dialogues convened by USDA, shared the priorities of the seed industry with U.S. government agencies and congressional committees, and coordinated with the International Seed Federation to highlight the importance of quality seed, science-based practices, and innovation for a sustainable food system. Following the pre-summit meeting in Rome on July 30, USDA shared a press release highlighting support for new initiatives including the Global School Meals Coalition, the Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate, and the Coalition on Food Loss and Waste.
