ASTA – ABRASEM Host Third Phytosanitary Workshop in Brasilia

  • On October 9, 2019

ASTA and the Brazilian Seed Association (ABRASEM) co-hosted an event October 2-4, providing an opportunity for member companies to learn about new changes to Brazilian phytosanitary and seed related normatives, and to provide feedback to Ministry of Agriculture regulators. Notable outcomes included a commitment from the Ministry of Agriculture’s Plant Health Department to work with APHIS to launch a systems approach pilot project for seed movement, with the intent of launching pilots in early 2020. The group also toured one of Brazil’s public quarantine and research facilities (EMBRAPA) to learn about its quarantine process, germplasm exchange, and new research. If you are a member and would like to join ASTA’s Brazil Country Working Group and receive a more detailed recap of the meeting, please contact Mary Scott.
