House Committee on Agriculture Majority Staff Releases Farm Bill Proposal, Announces Markup Hearing
- On March 4, 2026
The majority staff of the House Committee on Agriculture released the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, and began marking up the bill starting on March 3. Much of this bill is similar in nature to what was previously considered by the House Agriculture Committee in 2024.
During the markup, the Committee will review the bill, offering the opportunity for members to propose amendments. If the Committee votes in favor of an amendment, it is added to the legislative text. After all the amendments are considered and voted on, the entire Committee will vote on whether to advance the bill to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for consideration.
