ASTA Engages with International Delegations in Washington, D.C.
- On September 5, 2025
Each summer, Washington D.C. becomes a hub for international delegations participating in various agriculture and agricultural biotechnology study tours. This summer, ASTA represented the U.S. seed industry in several key engagements with global regulatory leaders. Among the delegations ASTA met with were government regulators from Japan participating in the U.S. Grains and Bioproducts Council’s annual biotechnology study tour, African regulators attending the Michigan State Short Course on Agricultural Biotechnology, and the Korean Biotech Legislative Advisory Team. These meetings provided ASTA with valuable opportunities to share the U.S. seed industry’s perspective on the importance of harmonizing international policies to facilitate the movement of seed across borders. ASTA also emphasized the critical role of implementing science-based regulatory frameworks for plant breeding innovation.
Beyond the immediate discussions, these engagements serve as a springboard for ASTA’s ongoing advocacy efforts in key regions around the world. By building relationships and fostering dialogue with international counterparts, ASTA continues to advance its mission of promoting a strong, science-driven global seed industry.
