Senate Ag Committee Introduces Farm Bill Text

This week, the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Chairwoman Stabenow introduced the Rural Prosperity and Food Security Act. A summary of the bill is available here and Bill text is available here. The Chairwoman has not indicated if she plans to hold a Committee mark-up of her Bill. The current authority for the Farm Bill lapsed on October 1, 2024. Congress will need to act on an extension of the 2018 Farm Bill, or sign a new authorization into law by December 31, 2024 to avoid serious disruptions to agricultural systems.
