Update on Administration Nominations

Last week, the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry voted to advance the nominations of Dr. Mindy Brashears for the Undersecretary of Food Safety, former Representative Yvette Herrell for Assistant Secretary of Agriculture for Congressional Affairs and External Relations, and John Walk for Inspector General of the Department of Agriculture. They now await a vote from the full Senate. Herrell represented New Mexico’s 2nd District in the House of Representatives from 2021-2023.

The Committee also held a hearing to consider Glen Smith for the position of Undersecretary of Agriculture for Rural Development. The Committee will next vote on whether to advance his nomination. The meeting can be viewed here. 

The Trump Administration nominated Stevan Pearce to serve as Director of the Bureau of Land Management at the Department of the Interior. Pearce represented New Mexico’s 2nd District in the House of Representatives from 2003-2009 and from 2011-2019.
