ASTA’s Dr. Chou Moderates Biotech Panel at ISBR Symposium

  • On November 12, 2025

From November 3-6, ASTA and many of its members travelled to Ghent, Belgium for the International Society for Biosafety Research (ISBR) Symposium 2025, the annual event convening leading international experts in sustainable bio-innovation, biotechnology, and biosafety for three days of high-level scientific exchange. Delegates from across the globe – representing academia, industry and regulatory bodies – joined forces to discuss the cutting-edge of biological technology and its safe deployment.

The ASTA network and its members played a prominent role throughout the program. On Wednesday, Dr. Fan-Li Chou, ASTA’s Senior Vice President of Scientific Affairs & Policy, moderated a packed session titled “Scientific Advancements, Challenges and Regulatory Considerations – Genome Editing”. The session showcased the latest breakthroughs in genome editing tools and the integration of artificial intelligence driven approaches to proposals for modernizing regulatory frameworks to ease the burden on innovators.

The Symposium emphasized the need for international collaboration and cross-disciplinary dialogue to deliver sustainable biotech solutions and ensure biosafety while supporting innovation.
