ASTA Advocacy Continues Via More Letters to Congress and the Federal Government
- On April 2, 2026
As the congressional appropriations committees write bills to fund the government for fiscal year 2027, ASTA has continued to partner with fellow agriculture organizations to highlight to Congress the importance of issues related to farm, food, and national security.
ASTA worked with 20 groups to call for the Federal government to fund aflatoxin and mycotoxin research. These toxins can grow in a variety of crops and cost U.S. agriculture roughly $1 billion each year. This cooperation shows ASTA’s ability to work with other levels of the agriculture supply chain to find solutions to this developing problem.
On trade policy, ASTA joined nearly 70 trade associations to express a united front of the nation’s industries in support of renewing the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The message explained the importance of the Federal government engaging with the business sector when determining a course of action on USMCA.
ASTA remains hard at work advocating for the seed industry and its priorities, working with allied organizations to amplify its voice in the halls of Congress.
