Callahan Confirmed as Chief Agricultural Negotiator for USTR

ASTA congratulates Julie Callahan on her confirmation as the Chief Agricultural Negotiator for the Office for the United States Trade Representative (USTR). In a 53-43 vote, the Senate fills the vacancy for the lead U.S. government position for agricultural trade negotiations and the development and coordination of U.S. agricultural trade policy.  

ASTA looks forward to continuing to work with Ambassador Callahan in her new role. Trade and international seed movement allow U.S. seed companies to drive agricultural innovation and deliver American farmers the best crop varieties. Addressing trade barriers for U.S. seed companies and producers will ensure that American agriculture remains globally competitive. The ASTA team will continue to engage with the new Chief Agricultural Negotiator and her team on tariff relief, biotechnology, and phytosanitary barriers to trade, as well as the importance of intellectual property approaches for the U.S. seed sector.
