ASTA Members Discuss Flower Breeding on Capitol Hill

  • On October 3, 2017

On September 25 and 26, ASTA members representing the flower and ornamental seed sectors came to Washington, D.C. for a miniature Storm the Hill session to educate lawmakers about the intricacies of the flower industry.

Matt Kramer from Ball Horticultural and Jamie Kitz from Sakata Seed America joined ASTA’s government affairs team in key meetings with the House and Senate Agriculture Committees. These meetings were a great opportunity for Congressional staff to learn about plant breeding in flowers, and how the Farm Bill can help the flower industry continue to innovate and meet consumer demand by bringing new and improved varieties to market.
