On August 23, ASTA Vice President for Government and Regulatory Affairs Jane DeMarchi participated in a Science Policy Field Tour on Balancing Pest Management and Pollinator Health. Organized by the Entomological Society of America, Plant-Insect Ecosystem Section (ESA-P-IE), and Mississippi State University (MSU), the event included a tour of the MSU Delta Research and Extension Center in Stoneville and visits to several farms, where the group saw demonstrations by aerial applicators and beekeepers.

Tour participants included representatives from academia, industry and government, as well as environmental, beekeeper and grower organizations. The event offered an excellent forum to learn from experts in a range of disciplines and offered a firsthand look at how farmers and beekeepers can successfully collaborate, even in environments where pest pressure is high.
